New-Look X-Factor for 2009

This Saturday sees the return of the highly popular reality Tv Show that continues to bring many to fame, and with it comes a new look for 2009.

X-Factor judges Louis Walsh, Danii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell
Cowell changed the format for the first time this year, with the wannabes now having to sing in front of thousands of members of the public from the start, as with the highly successful format of 'Britains Got Talent'.

"It was time to change things, make it different, and make it more challenging," said Cowell.
"The audience brings something completely new to the auditions; it's tougher but it brings new dimensions to the performances.
"It allows certain people and real talent to shine from day one and that's why we've done the show this way round."

This sixth series of the show has Simon Cowell promising that the live-audience auditions have made the show "bigger, better, faster and tougher".

Of course they still feature the usual soap-opera style mix of the good, the bad, and the downright kooky.

The first X-Factor auditions, this week for instance, feature shrieking Lithuanian models, annoying Irish twins and a crooning heart-throb teacher.

Sisters and part-time Lithuanian models
Rosita and Vaida try out for X-Factor.

The Dream Girls, moved to the UK from Lithuania, just so they could audition for the show (they may want to think about booking that return flight).
Also watch out for the irritatingly confident John and Edward, two young twin brothers from Dublin, who milk the crowd for all it is worth.

There is also an Essex single-mum, and a bizarre Frenchman who uses his impersonation of Mariah Carey to get his few minutes of TV Fame.

The show has also been stretched in order to capitalise on those massive viewing figures - more than 14m people tuned in for last year's final.

The results of the public votes will now be held-off for a separate show on Sunday evening, much like Strictly Come Dancing.
Cowell said,of the new format, "if it's good, write about me. But if it's bad, blame Louis."
